The OurPay model
What merchant of record means for your business.
You supply the product or service. OurPay resells it to your customer. Here’s how that sale connects to your responsibilities and earnings.
Who sells to the customer?
OurPay is the merchant of record and authorized reseller. The customer buys through OurPay under our buyer terms. Your agreement with OurPay covers the product you supply and the amount we owe you from the sale.
This model applies to physical goods and services as well as software and digital products. We have no OurPay category exclusions for lawful products and services.
Read the seller agreement ↗Where does the payment provider fit?
A payment provider processes the charge. OurPay’s role as reseller describes the sale to the customer. These are separate responsibilities: the payment method must support the actual product, country, and funds flow used for that sale.
OurPay records the order, fee, refunds, and adjustments. Seller Payable shows the amount still owed to your business. A recorded balance is separate from a completed transfer to your bank.
Follow your earnings ↗What do you take care of?
You make or source the product, describe it accurately, and fulfill what the customer bought. You handle product support, shipping and returns for physical goods, or the agreed work and timing for services.
Keep evidence of delivery and help resolve refund requests and disputes. OurPay’s reseller role does not provide shipping, warehousing, or service delivery for you.
Read the buyer terms ↗How are taxes and settlement handled?
OurPay takes the merchant-of-record responsibilities for the customer sale under our terms. The tax treatment depends on what is sold and where. You remain responsible for your own income and business taxes.
Automatic tax collection and automatic seller payouts are not enabled yet. Before live sales, we confirm the applicable tax handling and settlement arrangements with you. Adding a product does not establish those arrangements by itself.
